Green ice rinks: skating towards sustainability

Everyone at Industrial Frigo Ice believes that sustainability and fun can go hand in hand. We want to offer exciting and unique experiences that are environmentally friendly at the same time. For this reason, our company has been promoting environmental sustainability for years, aware of the importance of preserving and protecting our precious ecosystem. In all phases of the construction of ice rinks and snow attractions, we adopt a number of sustainable practices, starting with the choice of materials. Wherever possible, we prefer to use environmentally friendly and recyclable materials for the construction of our ice rinks and snow attractions, thus reducing the environmental impact.

In addition to our choice of materials, we are committed to using renewable energy sources to power our facilities. We invest in state-of-the-art technology to maximize energy efficiency and minimize greenhouse gas emissions. We are implementing strategies to reduce the environmental impact of our transport by optimizing routes and using more sustainable modes of transport. This enables us to contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions.

40% reduction in consumption

Our rinks offer 40% energy savings compared to older generation rinks. The latest line of chillers designed by the company reduces consumption and eliminates waste, while guaranteeing excellent quality standards.

Green energy production

By installing solar panels, our company reduces its environmental impact by saving 150 tonnes of CO2 each year. We are proud to adopt clean energy solutions to contribute to a more eco-friendly future.

Sustainable packaging

Our commitment to the environment is reflected in our choice of sustainable packaging for our ice rinks, snow attractions and chillers. We use recyclable materials, thus reducing our environmental impact.

Synthetic rinks or ice rinks?

Reducing the use of non-renewable resources

Skating rinks with real ice do not require the use of synthetic materials such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which is used for synthetic rinks. The use of synthetic materials may involve the extraction and use of non-renewable resources, while natural ice uses water, a renewable and recyclable resource, as its main element.

Lifetime and waste management

Synthetic rinks have a limited lifespan and must be disposed of at the end of their useful life. Recycling these materials can be complex and expensive, and if not managed properly, they can end up in landfills or be incinerated, causing negative environmental impacts such as soil and air pollution.

Environmental benefits of water

Ice rinks can utilize water as the main element, allowing for a more sustainable use of water resources. The water used for ice formation can come from sustainable sources, such as rainwater or the use of water recycling systems. Real ice rinks can also help conserve local water resources.

Zero risk of microplastic release

A real ice rink is an ecologically sustainable option compared to synthetic rinks when it comes to the risk of releasing microplastics into the environment. Synthetic rinks are often made of materials such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or other forms of plastic, which can flake and release microplastics during use and subsequent disposal.
